Bangkok--25 Jul--i2C Communications KTIS officially launched its liquid sucrose and super refined sugar production projects, which are expected to require THB 980 million in investment capital, production capacity at 400,000 kg. per day for liquid sucrose and 500,000 kg. per day for super refined sugar and enter the selling stage by mid-2015. The mill to be built for both projects will be ultramodern and superior in quality compared to the local standards, with an adoption of the highly sophisticated production processes as currently employed by Nissin Sugar. World’s leading sugar trader Sumitomo Group hints that this is only the first step, and there will be the second and third stages next year. Mr. Parphan Siriviriyakul, Chief Executive Officer of KTIS Group, Thailand’s leading player in the sugar and related industries, revealed that his company has recently held an inauguration ceremony to introduce of its liquid sucrose mill construction and super refined sugar production projects at KTIS sugar mill, Nakhon Sawan, as part of the campaign which related to an initial public offering of its capital-increase shares. The projects are expected to require THB 980 million in an investment capital, and once completed will yield daily production capacity at 400 tonnes (400,000kg) of liquid sucrose and 500 tonnes (500,000kg) of super refined sugar. KTIS is in the process of erecting building expansions and securing machines and anticipates starting production of liquid sucrose for sale by mid-2015. The projects are fully supported by Nissin Sugar and Sumitomo Corporation, Nissin Sugar’s majority shareholder, strategic partners in KTIS. ‘Nissin Sugar supply us a technical experts to help us produce and design the machine specifications that meet the Japan standards, which are higher than the local and will make the mill ultramodern and extremely efficient and enable it to manufacture of an excellent quality. KTIS executives have visited a similar mill of Nissin Sugar in Japan. Their liquid sucrose and super refined sugar are outstanding quality,’ he said. KTIS will produce liquid sucrose of 66.5-67.5% Brix, along with production of super refined sugar with color index of 15 to 25 ICUMSA, to ensure efficiency in liquid sucrose production and suitability of super refined sugar for use in the industries requiring material with high purity level, he added. KTIS will initially supply liquid sucrose to satisfy the demand in the industrial sector mainly, as KTIS’s existed customers which are major F&B firms have a level of demand for liquid sucrose that will fully cover KTIS’s total production capacity. As for super refined sugar, it will be marketed both domestic and international, especially in Korea, Japan, and Middle East countries. ‘Our products – both liquid sucrose and super refined sugar – will be in the premium quality and will meet the standard requirements of our industrial clients. We will serve the industrial firms at first, and will enter the retail market when suitable. We are worry-free about the international markets for our super refined sugar, as Sumitomo, a global sugar trading firm, will take part of selling it worldwide. The level of revenue to be earned from the projects will be dependent on sugar prices in the world market,’ he said. Mr. Koji Morinaga, Managing Director, President of Subsidiaries?, Nissin Sugar, noted, ‘KTIS and Sumitomo have maintained a strong relationship for more than three decades. They have been like members of the same family. That’s why when we decide to invest in Thailand, we choose KTIS as our partner.’ ‘We seek a favourable situation in light of supply and demand in Asia, and we see Thailand’s sheer competitiveness and the country’s standing as the net exporter of sugar to the entire Asian region, whereas sugar demand is rising. Thailand is the regional hub of sugar production and supply. We want so to promote KTIS as a premier producer in sugar and related industries. Our role is to help KTIS explore and expand its new markets. We will supply state-of-the-art technologies to help promote sales, and value-added to KTIS’s wide range of products. After all, we both will become more and more successful,’ he remarked. He went on by saying that sugar industry is no longer only about sugar but also about such byproducts as ethanol, pulp paper and electric power, that all parts of sugarcane and all leftovers of sugar production process – including molasses, bagasse, filter cake, vinasse, etc – can add much greater value to KTIS. ‘Production of liquid sucrose and super refined sugar will be just the first stage, and, we hope, we will take the second and third stages next year,’ he concluded.
