Bangkok--1 Sep--Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas Day three of the 13th King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament saw a fiercely fought penalty shootout with the all lady Mercedes team pitted against newcomers Louis Roederer Hong Kong Team The Mercedes veteran polo players were stunned in the first few minutes of the shot out by first time player Matt Mason who easily hit the first shot through the goals. Veteran Mercedes captain Lucy Munro tried to match her counterpart but her penalty shot fell short of the goals. The Mercedes ladies were determined to win the battle of the sexes but a clear and concise goal by Michael Davies finished off the ladies with a 2 – 0 win to the Louis Roederer team sending them through to the semi finals. Although the ladies were not successful on the pitch, offside it was a day dubbed ‘Ladies Day’ or the ‘new Ascott’ of Bangkok. Ladies from all walks of life dressed to impress with the best dressed lady winning a week long holiday at NIYAMA Resort in the Maldives. The day was attended by well known celebrities and socialites such as Sonya Couling, Cindy Bishop and Kathy Kingpayome. The final day of play ends Sunday at the VR Siam Sports Polo Club.
