Bangkok--30 Aug--Hill & Knowlton Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, "Hitachi") and Hitachi Asia Ltd. announced today that it is hosting the "Hitachi Social Innovation Forum in Thailand" on 26 August 2016, at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World. Gp.Capt Somsak Khaosuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Communication Technology and Mr. Saknarong Saengsangapong, Vice Chairman of The Federation of Thai Industries, will grace the event as guests-of-honor. Through hosted exhibition and business seminars, the forum will showcase a broad range of solutions in Hitachi's Social Innovation Business, which combines infrastructure and advanced information technologies. Customers, business partners, and major stakeholders in Thailand will be able to have a better understanding of Hitachi's key business fields such as information and telecommunication systems, transportation, power systems and healthcare. Delegates will also be able to hear from Hitachi speakers Mr. Makoto Yasuda, Senior Technology Evangelist, Information & Communication Technology Business Division, Hitachi, Ltd., Mr. Kazuo Karasawa, Head of Sales & Marketing Division, Railway Systems Business Unit, Hitachi, Ltd., Mr. Ichiro Iino, Chief Executive for Asia Pacific, Hitachi, Ltd. and Mr. Yasuo Mizutani, Managing Director, Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. They will share their views on Thailand's growth opportunities and challenges, and introduce some of Hitachi's solutions for collaborative creation from the view of Urban Development and Public Transportation supported by IT Systems. The Hitachi Social Innovation Forum is Hitachi's global flagship event, and this is the first time that it will be held in Thailand as part of its business expansion plans in the country. In the recently announced 2018 Mid-term Management Plan, Hitachi targets to increase its overseas sales ratio to more than 55%. Accounting for approximately half of Hitachi's headcount and with the biggest operations in Southeast Asia, Thailand will play an instrumental role in helping Hitachi achieve the target. The Thai government has been ramping up spending in infrastructure development to boost its economy and competitiveness, and Hitachi remains committed to provide support through its areas of expertise. For instance, Hitachi has supplied 500kV and 115kV gas-insulated switchgears (GIS) to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) as a means to improve reliability of the electricity power network and expand generating capacity. More recently in March this year, Hitachi was awarded a contract for the Thailand Red Line Construction Project as part of a consortium. This project aims to alleviate traffic congestion by improving the country's public transport system. Mr. Ichiro Iino, Chief Executive for Asia Pacific, Hitachi, Ltd. said, "We are very excited to hold the Hitachi Social Innovation for the first time in Thailand. Hitachi aspires to drive innovation together with all of our stakeholders through collaborative creation, in ways that make positive contributions to society. Through the forum, we hope to showcase successful examples of Hitachi's Social Innovation Business that combine Hitachi's infrastructure technologies with advanced information technologies, and how these can contribute to Thailand and this region."
