CAT unveils digital business plan to support Thailand 4.0

Bangkok--17 Dec--CAT Telecom Public Company CAT has revealed that it generated more than thirteen billion baht of revenue over the first 11 months of the year. The company is planning to develop digital solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Cyber Security next year. It aims at providing the digital solutions for the governmental agencies, in order to implement policies in line with the government's Thailand 4.0 model. According to Colonel Sanpachai Huvanandana, the President of CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (CAT), the company has generated a net profit of 13,675 million baht during the first 11 months of 2018. The company made 58,713 million baht of revenue and 45,038 million baht on expenses. He said that CAT has developed a digital business plan for next year expecting to increase company's role as the state telecommunication service provider that drives digital solutions in Thailand, in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 policy. The move is also in line with the state administration's policy that encourages all government entities to implement technology in data management. To achieve those goals, CAT has adjusted the internal organizational structure to increase its flexibility in management and providing services nationwide. Also, over the course of 2018 through the next year, CAT will be continuously developing its digital services Internet of Things, Big Data, and Cyber Security in order to be more capable of delivering and support the performance of the government entities. The company is expected to maintain its market share and growth rate in both mobile and internet services, in line with the current market situation. "In addition to providing data connectivity or data infrastructure, we will offer several smart services such as cloud computing, data center, Big Data, Big Data Analytics, and Cyber Security. Our service for state agencies will be more about these new services. In the near future, all governmental units that have adopted digital solutions must improve their Cyber Security measures. CAT is prepared to provide these solutions to all state agencies in their digital adaptation efforts," said Colonel Sanpachai. Regarding Digital Park Thailand in Si Racha District of Chonburi Province, Colonel Sanpachai said the project will play a crucial role in producing IT personnel in Thailand, by developing knowledge in manufacturing new technology and innovation for the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and the rest of the Kingdom, through public hearing and market sounding via Public Private Partnership (PPP). The Terms of Reference (TOR) of Digital Park Thailand will soon be available. The selection process for private investors is expected to be at the beginning of next year. As for the merger between CAT and TOT Public Company Limited, the CAT President indicated that the responsible committee, comprised of executives and union representatives from both companies, are jointly conducting the feasibility study on the deal which is expected to decrease redundancy in investment and increase the performance of the merged firm, by combining the strengths of both CAT and TOT. The merger plan will soon be proposed to the sub-committee on state enterprise solutions, the State Enterprise Policy Office, and the Cabinet. If approved, the merger process of CAT and TOT will be commenced, in accordance with the regulations.
