Boys’ Festival is family celebration at The Okura Prestige Bangkok

Bangkok--18 Apr--The Okura Prestige Bangkok The ancient Japanese traditions associated with Tango-no-Sekku or Kodomonohi, otherwise known as Boys’ Festival, are celebrated from 27 April to 5 May 2014 at Yamazato, the signature restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok. Master Chef Shigeru Hagiwara has created special lunch and dinner menus for this year’s Boys’ Festival celebrations at Yamazato. The festival is an integral part of Japan’s Golden Week when families fly carp-shaped streamers and decorate Samurai dolls to bring happiness to every boy in the family. Yamazato plans to decorate Samurai dolls in front of the restaurant and fly its own streamers from the hotel’s flagpoles on Wireless Road. The special set lunch is priced at Baht 800++ and features traditional dishes such as Handmade sesame tofu with mugwort and okra; seared bonito Tosa-style; snowfish and butterbur grilled with miso pepper, arrow wheel shaped lotus root. The celebration Kaiseki set dinner, which includes boiled salmon and deep-friend figs; alfonsino with Miso butter sauce, simmered sea bream in soy sauce, and assortment of raw fish on vinegared rice is priced at Baht 3,000++. The children’s set menu is priced at Baht 350++. “Although this festival was known for many centuries as Boys’ Festival we plan to make it a real family celebration at Yamazato,” said Master Chef Hagiwara. “It is certainly not a celebration just for the boys in the family.” Yamazato is located on the 24th Floor of The Okura Prestige Bangkok.
