Macao's newest luxury retail hub opens its doors!

Bangkok--2 Sep--Jigsaw Communications Family-friendly shopping in Macao is poised to get even better with the opening of Shoppes at Cotai Central Phase 3 Sands Retail, the leasing and retail asset management platform of Las Vegas Sands Corp and Sands China Ltd, Macao's leading operator of luxury shopping malls, officially opens Shoppes at Cotai Central Phase 3 on 29 August 2014. The move represents a significant expansion that will increase the size of the mall in operation by 70 per cent, raising its total retail area to 400,000 sq. ft. Within Phase 3, 36new retailers have already opened for business, with a further 15 restaurants and kiosksto open by the end of the year. The US$60 million investment paves the way for an expanded tenant mix that spans home decor, variety stores, designer children's wear, fashion sportswear, travel accessories, and an even wider variety of men’s and women’s fashion, lifestyle and cosmetics brands. Altogether, the mall houses140 brands, including the first-ever store in Macao for many retailers and the first in Asia for some. "Our threedistinguishedthemed malls in Macao have achieved strong double-digit growth over the last few years, and we've just announced strong result for the first half of this year as well. This sustained growth totally vindicates our strategy of continuing to expand and develop our offering in Macao, and we'll keep looking for new opportunities to serve our valuedretail customers in the future." Sands Retail saw its retailer sales in Macao grow by 21% toUS$1.25 billion, during the first half of 2014 compared to the same period last year, with Shoppes at Cotai Central contributing US$149million of sales, a 28% increase year on year by itself. In 2013, Sands Retail achieved full year sales of over US$2 billion in Macao, of which close to 12% was from Shoppes at Cotai Central. Shoppes at Cotai Central opened in 2012, becoming Macao's first mall dedicated to family consumers. Strategically located between Conrad, Holiday Inn and Sheraton Hotels, and connected to the luxury Shoppes at Four Seasons and high street Shoppes at Venetian by air conditioned walkways, Shoppes at CotaiCentral offers outstanding customer convenience. The mall also incorporates an easily-accessible food court, Koufu, where 23 stalls serve up a wide range of international cuisine. Phase 3 will reinforce the mall's stylish but family-friendly character even more with the opening of Planet J, Macao's largest interactive indoor theme park, in 2015. Further expansion and improvements are already on the drawing board for Phase 4. Conceptually, Shoppes at Cotai Central is based around a cascading river where the water flows along a central spine. Phase 3 saw a significant revamp of the original development, with design enhancements to align with current mall standards in lighting and material selection, for a richer visitor and shopping experience. "The opening of Phase 3 means that Shoppes at Cotai Central truly offers something for everyone, from fashionistas to families," said Sylvester.
