Wishbeer recently took home the title of Thailand’s Most Promising Startup, beating stiff competition at the Echelon Awards 2014, which recognize the region’s most original online entrepreneurs and e-commerce start-ups.
The “Most Promising Startup” is a highly prestigious award to win, especially as there’s now so much competition from online organizations around the country. But Echelon’s judges were swayed by the way that Wishbeer had seen a genuine gap in the market, creatively implemented a user-friendly business model and quickly built a loyal and growing customer base among the beer-loving Thai and expat community.
Wishbeer home-delivery service now offers 500 different bottled and canned lagers, ales and stouts, and speedily sends them direct to customers’ doorsteps, even in rural areas of the country. There are many expats in Thailand who miss the taste of their favourite beverages, and increasing numbers of ale-loving locals who want a wider variety of beers to enjoy at home without having to visit over-priced bars and trendy restaurants in the city. Echelon Thailand 2014, was held on 18-19 September, at Chulalongkorn University's Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, and the prestigious judging panel included Jeffrey Paine, Founding Partner of Golden Gate Ventures and Adrian Vanzyl, CEO of Ardent Capital as well as other well-known online entrepreneurs. Echelon’s ultimate aim is to foster innovation in Asia’s online community by connecting emerging internet-based businesses with the investors and companies who can help them succeed.
Clearly pleased at his win, Wishbeer’s founder, French national Jerome Le Louer said, “It was a great honour to receive this award. It is validation of all the hard work me and my team have put in since we started the company a year and a half ago.
