At the Lonely Planet Traveller Destination Awards 2014, New Zealand took the coveted prize of “Ultimate Dream Destination”, one of only eight awards from the international destinations category.
This year, the Thai edition of the award-winning title is also celebrating its third anniversary, and the dual occasion was marked with a special awards ceremony held at the Sofitel So Bangkok.
The findings were the result of an online survey conducted amongst the magazine’s readers from July to September this year, in order to celebrate the tourism industry and to encourage Thai travellers to visit some of the best tourist destinations.
Accepting the award at the ceremony, Deputy Head of Mission at New Zealand’s Embassy in Bangkok Ms. Shannon Austin Said:
‘‘It is a huge honour for New Zealand to be voted the Ultimate Dream Destination by Thai readers, who themselves live in one of the world’s top tourism destinations. I look forward to seeing more Thais visit New Zealand for their dream holiday.''

The award winning Lonely Planet Traveller Magazine originally from the UK boasts 15 international editions, and is considered to be one of the most successful and recognised travel titles of its kind.
