Nobel Laureate Mohamed Elbaradei will speak on “Global Equity and Security”

Bangkok--28 Jan--Ogilvy Public Relations Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, will visit Bangkok as keynote speakers in the 5th ASEAN event series “Bridges – Dialogues Towards a Culture of Peace”. The event is facilitated by the Vienna-based International Peace Foundation. Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei will speak on “Global equity and security” on Monday, February 9 at 7 pm at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand Penthouse Maneeya Center Building, 518/5 Ploenchit Road, Bangkok 10330 (information and seat reservations are available via phone 02-652-0580-1, fax 02-652-0582 and email info@fccthai.com) Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei was Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 1997 to 2009 who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 “for his efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest possible way”. Throughout his career, among others at the United Nations and the World Health Organization, Dr. ElBaradei made it a priority to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear power, striving to make radiation therapy available in less-developed countries for the treatment of diseases such as cancer and malaria.
