Bangkok--26 May--Delivering Asia Communications Italics Bangkok has brewed up the coffee deal of the century and an offer you can't refuse, with the first 100 diners quick enough to hand over THB 1,000 gaining instant membership of the Italics 'Coffee for Life' Club. The hip new bistro in the heart of Bangkok's cool dining precinct at Soi Ruamrudee is better known for its authentic and classic Italian cuisine and creative twists on old favourites using ingredients sourced exclusively in Thailand than for its caffeinated beverages. But Italics takes coffee seriously, delivering everything from espressos to exotic blends at a gourmet level. In keeping with the restaurant's sustainable, locally-sourced ethos and commitment to proven provenance, the hundred members of the Coffee For Life club will be drinking Doi Tung coffee for the rest of their years, any time they visit Italics. The single-origin coffee harvested only from the rolling hills of Doi Tung in Chiang Rai's Mae Fah Luang district is shade grown and undergoes careful processing, keeping it free from toxins and full of flavour. Initiated by the Princess Mother in 1988, coffee is among the cash crops that substitute opium cultivation grown in Doi Tung's economic forest. Providing a licit and sustainable income for the local people, the products of Doi Tung have been recognized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and carry the UNODC seal. Doi Tung is the coffee of choice served to all diners at Italics and one of the best coffees in Asia, highlighting the sweetness of the deal. Italics is a partnership between Thailand boutique resort pioneers AHMS - The Collection, and design mavericks Manor Studio of Singapore. A second Italics bistro will open in akyra Manor Chiang Mai, the new urban hip hotel set to take the northern capital by storm when it opens in Q2 2015. AHMS - The Collection founder and managing director Anchalika Kijkanakorn said 'Coffee For Life' was a 'crazy good deal' for those who took up the offer, which anyone could do by dining in Italics and asking the staff to sign them up. "We have limited it to 100 people, and it's first come first served. But there is also a chance for those who get this incredible deal to give something back," Ms Kijkanakorn said. "Our partner, Manor Studio, and its founder John Lim run a fantastic charity operation in Chiang Mai which puts funds and expertise into maintaining and improving local dams, to ensure hilltribe people have access to fresh and clean water. "So all Coffee for Life members are invited to dig deep and make a donation. And while they are enjoying their Doi Tung 'Coffee for Life', allow me to point out that Italics is open for business all day. "Italics begins with breakfast ... fresh gourmet coffee and breakfast dough, bread, granola, pastries. Business Set Lunches - all served within 45 mins or it's on us! Dinner is an affair of gourmet food for food lovers. Italics is located in Ruamrudee Grove, a refurbished house on Soi Ruamrudee a short walk from Conrad Bangkok, shared with Balvenie Bar, a whisky and cigar lounge offering one of the biggest selections of single malts in South East Asia. Italics is open from 8am to 11pm daily. For more information and full menu visit www.italicsrestaurant.com
