For the first time, Thailand hosts the official World Tourism Day 2016 celebrations

Bangkok--28 Sep--Tourism Authority of Thailand World Tourism Day 2016 will be marked in Bangkok on September 27, 2016 with a number of events commemorating the theme of "Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility". This is the first time that Thailand is the host venue of the official World Tourism Day, which this year celebrates its 36th year. This event is an initiative of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the United Nations agency which promotes responsible, sustainable and accessible tourism. The Day is aimed at fostering awareness of the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism to nations. The World Tourism Day 2016 celebrations in Thailand will be celebrated from 26 to 29 September, 2016, and promote Thailand's tourism industry to the 157 member countries of the UNWTO as well as top tourism executives from around the world. The events will begin on 26 September, 2016 with a media workshop under the topic of "The Role of Media in Advocating Universal Accessibility" at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University. On 27 September, 2016 at the Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok, a number of seminars as well as exhibitions will be highlighted under the theme of "Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility," followed with the Official World Tourism Day 2016 Celebration in the afternoon.
