Bangkok--29 Sep--PRDD "Green Building development is not a fashion - it's a must!" said Mr.Tan Jitapuntkul, General Manager of TICON Logistics Park Co., Ltd (TPARK), Thailand's leading provider of high quality rental warehouses. He shared the development of TPARK's Green Warehouse concept, which was the first Green Warehouse in Thailand to be certified with the Silver Level of LEED® standard by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the US-based, internationally-acclaimed Green Building certification organization. "TPARK's green warehouse concept was initiated by our environmental conservation policies. In the past years, we organized various activities such as mangrove planting, sea and beach conservation and such on an annual basis. However, these programs were not suitably involved with our day-to-day operations. As such, we came up with the idea to enable everyday CSR activity, or CSR in Process, to make CSR truly meaningful and relevant. For us, CSR is more than just a business trend, but a necessity for sustainability. We therefore approached this from the inside and took inspiration from our core business. Throughout our 11 years, TPARK's DNA has always been about logistics facility development and construction, including top-quality, ready-built warehouses. Every day, we further evolve our designs and development to achieve construction of logistics facility projects that meet international standards and to best respond to the demands of our customers, most of which are multi-national corporations. These clients pay attention to the last detail, from building design to utility and infrastructure systems, to ensure the facility suits their operations. We then studied LEED® Building or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which is widely recognized in energy and environment conservation by leading organizations across the globe. Our pilot Green Buildings were developed at Wangnoi 2 project, covering an area of 25,380 sqm." Tan added "The Green Building concept was widely misunderstood to be all about planting a lot of trees, consumption of the least energy, and turning off the lights and air-conditioners whenever possible. Without the appropriate approach, energy-saving could come at the cost of deteriorating health of the users as the building would no longer be user-friendly, and there would likely be higher water consumption due to the large number of plants. TPARK instead focused on achieving the balance between energy saving and optimized building utilization." "Our Green idea was interwoven throughout the entire process, from design to construction and day-to-day operations. The Green concept was extended to resources and construction materials. We took into consideration the internal and external environment of the building, including wind direction and ventilation as well as efficient energy and water consumption. The LEED® standard assessment result proved that the energy consumption efficiency of our buildings increased by 32% in accordance with the ASHRAE standard (internationally acclaimed energy consumption efficiency standard) and saved energy costs by around 356,000 baht per year. In addition, the water consumption of the building was less than warehouses in general by over 42%, or 750 cubic meters per year. The internal ventilation system was designed to meet the ASHRAE standard in order to enable enhanced energy-saving while increasing the quality of life for building users." "This is just a small beginning for TPARK to contribute to environment conservation and efficient energy consumption from within. We believe that our know-how, from the development of the Green Building, will serve as a prototype for our Group Company and peers alike. It will be beneficial for us as well as our customers, surrounding communities and society in general, and for the quality of all our lives. If each of us, and every organization, were to aim for eco-friendly process and operations, we can help to heal the world together." concluded Tan.
