Foton Motor has officially announced a full-scale marketing drive in Thailand starting with the launch of new AUMARK 4 wheel Light Duty Truck models as well as other interesting models before the end of this year from its vast lineup of products.
The company plans to raise the number of dealers to 60 within 2017, in order to prepare for the anticipated market growth as it is confident that the Thai auto market will grow continuously. After a very successful global sale of total 8,000,000 vehicles, Foton is aiming a new milestone to become the world's leading auto producer within 2020.
Mr. Geng Chao, the president of Foton Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., announced their entry into the highly competitive Thai auto market. "Foton is presented in Thailand under the name of Foton Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of Foton Motor for manufacture, sales and after sales of Foton products in Thailand. In order to raise the standard of our operations here, Foton is planning to make further investments in order to cater to the demand from the Thai market and the ASEAN market that is continuously expanding. We are planning to launch new models throughout the year."
Foton Motor was established in 1996 and its head quarter is located in Beijing, China. Foton is considered as a major Chinese commercial vehicle producer with more than 40,000 employees. The product range caters to all customer requirements, and range from small trucks to medium and large trucks, pickup trucks, vans, as well as buses. In 2015, Foton Motor achieved the No.4 position in the total Chinese automobile market, and achieved No.1 position in the commercial vehicle segment, with marketing value of as much as US$12.3 billion. Since production began in 1996, Foton Motor has produced more than 8 million vehicles. In addition, Foton established Foton Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd. and Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. jointly with Daimler and Cummins respectively, two renowned manufacturers in world's automotive industry.
Foton Motor has KD plants in 25 other countries around the world, with R&D facilities in Japan, Germany, Taiwan and other countries and regions, including sales operations in India and Russia. Foton has been continuously developing products that come with energy-saving technology and eco-friendliness. Over the years, it has grown into China's largest producer of alternative energy vehicles covering the truck, bus and multi-purpose vehicle segments.
Foton will achieve an all-round breakthrough in the passenger vehicle segment in 2016. Being prepared for launching large SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) and MPV (Multi-purpose Vehicle) in the near future. In Thailand, Foton Motor Co.,Ltd has been marketing commercial trucks since 2011 through authorized distributors, before expanding investment to set up Foton Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in July 2015.
Regarding Thailand as Foton's key strategic market, Foton invested in the full renovation of the sophisticated main showroom as well as the sales and marketing office located in Prawet district on On-Nuch Road to welcome all customers. Presently Foton has a total of 15 dealers in Thailand, with the target of 25 dealers by the end of this year and 35 by next year, totally 60 dealers within 2017, cover the majority of the cities in Thailand. Located at Bang Chan Industrial Estate in Khannayao, Foton's local factory owns advanced equipments and experienced personnels, produces Foton pickup trucks, as well as other types of vehicles.
