Bangkok--28 Jun--Index Creative Village With the focus on promoting cybersecurity, the "Thailand Cybersecurity Week 2017" as a substantive result of government-private-public sector cooperation aims to increase awareness about continuously and severely growing cyber threats among Thais. It helps to establish strong cybersecurity collaboration, build trust in online transactions and e-commerce, and boost Thailand's economic stability. Air Chief Marshal Dr. Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister, revealed that cyber threats are constantly growing more challenging and sophisticated. The latest piece of the ransomware "WannaCry" is a notable case in which the worm quickly spread across any connected drives or networks and particularly hit systems, resulting in a shut-down and critical hindrance to computer operations around the globe. To be proactive against the potential problems, the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) partners with governmental bodies, private sectors and the public to organize the "Thailand Cybersecurity Week 2017". The event will emphasize on the importance of cybersecurity and encourage everyone involved to realize it and enhance cybersecurity collaboration. This will lead to online transaction and e-commerce trust as well as a support for emerging industries in the digital era e.g. digital content providers, FinTech firms and advanced e-payment for goods and services. The Deputy Prime Minister also complimented the ETDA, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the ThaiCERT that monitor and supervise Thailand's cybersecurity system necessary for online transaction, i-banking, e-commerce practices and e-Trade Facilitation. This will steer up the country towards the digital and innovation-driven economy in accordance with the government's Thailand 4.0 policy. Ms. Surangkana Wayuparb, Executive Director and CEO of ETDA said the cybersecurity event under the concept "Cybersecurity for All: ความมั่นคงปลอดภัยไซเบอร์เพื่อเราทุกคน" held from June 26 – 30 2017 will provide vital insight into cybersecurity in order to boost modern trade potential and make Thailand ideal to be the gateway to the ASEAN region.
