ตามที่ประเทศญี่ปุ่นได้จัดการเลือกตั้งสมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎร เมื่อวันที่ ๒๒ ตุลาคม ๒๕๖๐ โดยพรรคเสรีประชาธิปไตย (Liberal Democratic Party) ชนะการเลือกตั้ง นั้น
พลเอกประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความยินดีถึงนายชินโซ อะเบะ นายกรัฐมนตรีญี่ปุ่น ในนามของรัฐบาลและประชาชนไทย ดังนี้
Excellency,
How You and Your party have garnered such landslide victory in yesterday's general elections clearly manifested the overwhelming trust the people of Japan has placed on your rewarding policy and very able leadership. The Thai people, who always treasure dearly the great friendship with Japan are now joining me to heartily congratulate Your Excellency on this triumphant occasion with the firm conviction that Japan will continue to prosper and succeed in all her endeavors and that the longstanding relations existing between Thailand and Japan will be further strengthened for the mutual benefits of our two peoples and countries.
I'm particularly looking forward to continuing the close working relationship with Your Excellency and your Government to further advance the Thailand – Japan partnership.
