NEW SKIES SATELLITES N. V. SELECTS ROBERT W. ROSS AS CEO AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Mr. Terry Seddon, Chairman of the Board of New Skies Satellites N. V., today announced the selection of Mr. Robert W. Ross as Chief Executive Officer of the new company. "Bob Ross is well known in the cable television and satellite broadcasting field," Mr. Seddon noted, "and he brings a wealth of international experience and entrepreneurial drive to New Skies," he added. "We're delighted to have a man with Bob's demonstrated leadership and ability to take the helm of our new company and make it a successful competitor in the international satellite marketplace," Mr. Seddon stated. In accepting the position, Mr. Ross said, "It's a great thrill to join New Skies in its infancy and I'm committed to making it the premier satellite broadcasting entity in the world. Mr. Ross has run his own broadcasting consulting business, called SatTeleNet, from Atlanta since 1996. Prior to this, he worked at the Turner Broadcasting System in a number of positions from 1982 - 1996. Most recently, Mr. Ross was President of Turner International, Inc. (1994 - 1996), supervising its global operations, including 13 sales offices with more than 300 employees world-wide. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President of Turner International (1990 - 1994), Managing Director of CNN International Sales (1987 - 1990), and as Corporate General Counsel (1982 - 1987). From 1981 - 1982, Mr. Ross was a partner with the law firm of Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz, specializing in communications law, broadcasting and cable TV issues. He also served as Senior Vice President of the National Cable Television Association, (1979 - 1981), where NCTA's legal, public relations, and government relations' functions reported to him. Mr. Ross was legal counsel for Sprint (1977 - 1979), and before that, was General Counsel of the Telecommunication Policy Office of the White House (1975 - 1977), a lawyer for the Policy Office (1974 - 1975), and a trial lawyer for the Federal Communications Commission (1971 - 1974). A 1963 graduate of Brown University with a B. A. in International Relations, he also has a Masters Degree in International Relations from Boston University (1970), and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from Boston University in 1971. Mr. Ross also served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Naval Reserves. New Skies Satellites N.
