Blackmores, Australia's most trusted natural health brand, is proud to announce a new partnership with Australian swimming icon and five-time Olympic champion, Ian Thorpe. The legendary swimmer has joined the Blackmores family in the role of brand ambassador and will support Blackmores across Asia.
Thorpe's swimming comeback has generated enormous interest in Asia, especially in Korea and Japan and he makes his first appearance as a Blackmores ambassador in Seoul, Korea this week.
During his visit to Korea Thorpe will become an Australian Goodwill Ambassador for the Australia Korea 50 Years of Friendship. Thorpe will also support DonorsCamp, a charity education program for disadvantaged children with Blackmores’ retail partner, CJO Shopping, getting poolside to inspire children to live healthy lives and achieve their dreams. In addition he will meet Blackmores customers for photos and to sign autographs at Lotte — Korea's largest department store.
Blackmores and Thorpe are both synonymous with health and wellbeing, making the partnership a natural synergy. Blackmores knows that good health and wellbeing are vital for athletes like Thorpe to be able to compete at the elite level. Training schedules put huge demands on athletes' bodies, making the right nutrition and supplementation critical to helping them achieve their peak so they can participate in their sport at the highest level.
"I am excited about working with Blackmores because it's such a quality Australian brand," said Thorpe.
"Health plays a huge role in helping me manage the challenges of competitive swimming. I am a firm believer in taking quality supplements to meet nutritional needs which can’t be achieved through diet alone," he said.
Blackmores Director of Asia, Peter Osborne, said the company is proud to be partnering with one of Australia's favorite swimmers.
"Ian Thorpe is one of Australia's most prolific sportsman and has long been known for his incredible swimming achievements."
"The world is excited that Ian is back swimming competitively, and he has been embraced by the Asian people because he is an extraordinary athlete."
"He is also a very generous man with a goal that everyone should be treated equally. We share similar values at Blackmores with a long-term history of supporting the community, and this is one of the many reasons we are so enthusiastic about this collaboration," he said.
Blackmores is looking forward to supporting Thorpe throughout his comeback. With a comprehensive range of vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements, Blackmores is confident that Thorpe will have a sound nutritional foundation to help him achieve his goals.
