Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced that it had been selected by Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad ("Prasarana"), the Malaysian national infrastructure company, to deploy a railway communication system along the extension of Ampang Line Light Rail Transit ("Ampang LRT") in Malaysia. Working closely with George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad ("George Kent"), a large total solutions provider in Malaysia, Huawei will help Prasarana to deploy an innovative communication system for the extended 18km of the line which covers 13 stations and 10 traction power substations from Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur to Putra Heights, Selangor.
Playing a vital role for the Ampang extension project as the sole railway telecommunication system supplier, Huawei has designed and developed a highly reliable telecommunication system to suit Prasarana's unique requirements to improve safety and efficiency. The solution, which will be implemented in the coming months, provides a large communication system consisting of SDH Backbone, IP PABX Telephony, CCTV Video Surveillance, Public Address, Passenger Information Displays, Voice Recording, NTP Clock services and other railway communication devices. By 2016, the solution will help Prasarana deliver on its commitment to expanding coverage of the LRT network and providing quality public transportation services in more places for more people.
