SINGAPORE--1 Oct--BERNAMA-AsiaNet/InfoQuest
NEC Asia Pacific (NEC APAC) announced today that it is participating as a Gold Sponsor in GovernmentWare 2013, held at Suntec Singapore International Convention Centre & Exhibition Centre (Booth E07), from October 1 to 3, 2013. NEC will be showcasing a wide range of cyber offerings and solutions designed to safeguard and manage public safety and cyber security.
This year, NEC APAC will focus on virtual and real-world security by providing relevant solutions. To ensure cyber security, NEC will be building a Cyber Range Platform which will be used for training, testing and validating large-scale IT security solutions, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in a virtual environment. SCADA is an important aspect of Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) and with the increasing cyber security threats on SCADA systems, the Cyber Defence Institute will aid in concentrating on the research and penetration testing experiences of existing and in-development Industrial Control System (ICS) architectures.
“As cyberthreat activities are likely to increase over the coming years, it is necessary for NEC to help our customers to strengthen their ICS architectures. The move from closed proprietary systems to more standardized open platforms has caused SCADA systems security to be vulnerable and thus, NEC will be concentrating on mitigating possible cyber attacks. We hope to continue sharing our expertise, contributing directly to the development of better security measures and providing total solutions to serve the needs of the community,” said Mr Tan Boon Chin, Managing Director, Regional Competency Centre for Public Safety, NEC Asia Pacific and Head of the Global Safety Division, NEC Corporation.
NEC will also be featuring the following solutions at the event:
- Cyber Security — NEC’s Cyber Fusion Platform applies complex event processing and big data analytics on cyber security incidents and physical world events, leveraging on NEC’s advanced sensors.
- Biometrics on Cloud — NEC “private secure cloud” allows for deployment of all public solutions, including identity solutions, on one Integrated Platform. Such a platform, with hosted identity services enables multiple services and resources to be shared, thus reducing overall cost.
- Mobile Identification — Intended for field operations, NeoFace Smart ID is a smart phone and tablet-based solution that enables collection and identification of fingerprint, face, voice, demographic and other data source.
- Video Analytics — Scene Hunter is able to detect moving objects such as cars or person from video footages targeted for investigative purposes. Image sharpening and reconstruction technologies are incorporated to arrive for a clearer and sharper image.
Mr Lauri Korts-P?rns, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) from Cyber Defence Institute, a subsidiary of NEC Corporation, will also be presenting on “Aggressively Bring ICS Cyber Security to the Modern World Standards (Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Track)” on 2 October at 2:15pm.
