SEOUL, South Korea--4 Dec--PRNewswire/InfoQuest - Through Civilian, Government and Military Partnerships, The Best Outcome in History Garnering 17.95 Billion Dollars, Contracts & MOUs Valuing 900 Million Dollars Have Been Achieved Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition 2017 ("ADEX 2017"), which was held at Seoul Airport for six days, October 17-22, with great success. At this year's event, President Moon Jae-in attended to encourage the involved parties of industry, and induce "technology & quality-oriented defense industry" to secure competence in aerospace and defense industries, stating "The government will also reinforce diplomatic efforts to develop aviation and defense industries from domestic demand type to a global export-type industry." The exhibition was attended by 405 companies from 33 countries and achieved contracts worth USD 17,951 million and contracts and MOUs of USD 893 million for the aerospace and defense industry which has been evaluated as a result of government, civilian and military efforts while working together to cultivate aerospace and defense industries as a growth engine industry of the future. In addition, the domestically produced products of the aerospace and defense industry were on full display for domestic and international visitors, but also industry titans such as Boeing, Airbus, Safran attended. This has helped to motivate the expansion of the domestic industry. In particular, the guests invited from overseas boarded a T-50 advanced training airplane and a KT-1 basic training airplane that were developed domestically to not only experience the flight performance but also show much interest in K-9 self-propelled artillery, K-21 armored vehicles, large artillery detection radar, ground-to-air guided weapons. It is also expected to have positive effects on exports of the same products in the future. During the 4 business days, 85,000 experts visited the event; 197,000 general visitors attended over the two days which were open to the public, so that a total of 282,000 people visited the event, marking an opportunity to enhance understanding of and interests in aerospace and defense industries. Defense ministers from 4 countries including Mongolia and Oman along with 79 VIP's from 57 countries such as joint staff from Ecuador and air force chief of staff from Brazil were invited to arrange a total of 1,007 business meetings with domestic and overseas businesses, and arrange 1,340 B2B meetings. This contributed to the enhancement of technology levels and the recognition of domestic small and medium sized businesses.
