MOTOROLA SIGNS CONTRACT WITH KOREA DAEWOO SECURITIES FOR CONVERGED NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE HONG KONG, May 10, 2000/PRNI-HK-AsiaNet/ -- Motorola's Multiservice Networks Division today announced it has signed a networking equipment contract with Korea Daewoo Securities, valued at over US$3 million. Under the terms of the Agreement, Motorola will supply to Daewoo Securities a complete network solution consisting of high performance Vanguard 8550 series multiservice concentrators and award winning 6455 series routers. The contracted network solution will link all the information systems of Korea Daewoo Securities to 6 major nodes countrywide and to all of Daewoo Securities' 170 branches, headquarters, and 5 major overseas branches in Tokyo, New York, Hong Kong, London and Singapore and will serve as the backbone of DARWIN (Daewoo Advanced Reliable Worldwide Information Network). The new network will enable Daewoo Securities to offer online access to its 800,000 customers, and to provide a platform for internal Human Resources, Finance, inter-company mail, broadcasting, internal phone calls and internet access. Daewoo Securities also plans to launch a system in the near future to enable its headquarters to monitor the status of all the branches using Motorola's RemoteVU video technology.
