ARIZONA: A weekend press release said Three-Five Systems has begun shipping liquid crystal display (LCD) modules to several domestic customers in China. The company said the initial shipments of the modules, which are to be used in wireless handset and personal digital assistant (PDA) applications, represent a major step in Three-Five's ongoing global diversification strategy.

HEIDELBERG: A weekend release said following a good first quarter (April 1-June 30) for fiscal 2001/02 with sales up eight per cent and operating results up just under 22 per cent, the events in the USA had a clear impact on Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG's (Heidelberg) second quarter results. Sales by the Heidelberg Group were Euro 2.3 billion in the first half year(April 1 - September 30), around 5 percent up on the same period last year (just under Euro 2.2 billion). The operating result fell during the period by Euro 43 million to Euro 110 million. The profit after tax was Euro 62 million, down Euro 20 million on the first half of the previous fiscal year.

TOKYO: In a weekend release, Internet InitiativeJapan IIJ) announced its part-owned affiliate, AsiaNet Internet Holding, will tie-up with Indonesian multimedia service provider, PT. Inmost Mega Media, to launch its A-Bone VPN service there. This extended coverage will now reach a total of nine countries/regions in the Asia Pacific - Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Korea, China and Indonesia - with Taiwan expected to be included in early 2002.

CALIFORNIA: Seagate Technology has announced "a milestone in data storage technology with a world record-breaking areal density demonstration of more than 100 billion data bits per square inch (100 Gb/in2) using a fully integrated magnetic recording head and multi-layer antiferrogmagnetic coupled (AFC) disc." The company said its series of ongoing technology demonstrations will lead to new storage capabilities that can fulfil growing marketplace demands and fuel "exciting new applications."

INDIANA: Delco Remy International has announced the reassignments of two key financial executives. Effective immediately, J. Timothy Gargaro will transfer from his CFO position to Senior Vice President for Business Development, and David E. Stoll, current Vice President, Treasurer and Corporate Secretary, will become acting CFO.
