IRVINE, Calif.--Nov. 20--PRNewswire/AsiaNet
QUANTUM Technologies WorldWide, Inc., (Nasdaq: IMCO) announced today that it has received European regulatory approval for its 5,000 psi TriShield(TM) hydrogen storage cylinder -- making QUANTUM the first to produce an all-composite cylinder to meet all design qualification requirements of the European Integrated Hydrogen Project (EIHP). EIHP is at the forefront of developing global regulatory standards for hydrogen storage testing and certification. EIHP hydrogen storage testing and certification is required for manufacturers of storage cylinders to produce and sell storage tanks in Europe.

As part of the EIHP testing, QUANTUM's all-composite, ultra-lightweight, compressed hydrogen storage cylinder passed a series of tests and criteria such as penetration by armor piercing bullets, diesel fires, severe corrosion, elevated drops, cycling with hydrogen, and exposure to extreme temperatures. For additional risk reduction purposes, above and beyond those addressed by EIHP standards, QUANTUM simulates on-road conditions by exposing the hydrogen storage tank to vibration and shock loading.
Dr. Neel Sirosh, QUANTUM's Director of Advanced Fuel Storage Technologies said, "This achievement has a major effect on the production and commercialization of QUANTUM's TriShield(TM) hydrogen storage tank for mobile applications. QUANTUM has the first Type IV all-composite hydrogen storage tank design that is compliant with both NGV2-2000 and EIHP requirements -- marking QUANTUM as the leader in compressed hydrogen storage technology and first to market with a fully validated hydrogen storage product."
