MOSCOW, Oct. 19--PRNewswire/AsiaNet
Russia's state arms export corporation Rosoboronexport will broadly display Russian naval systems at the EURONAVAL 2002 show at Le Bourget, France, on October 21-25.
The Russian pavilion will accommodate 30 firms showing advanced naval systems fully suited for littoral operations, safeguarding maritime borders, near-seaport / naval-base waters and combating smuggling, terrorism and sea piracy.
Specifically, Rosoboronexport will display the multi-purpose medium-displacement Amur-1650 and Amur-950 submarines and small-displacement Piranha submarines.
These boats feature improved maneuverability in shallow waters and narrow straits, versatile and powerful weapons, combat autonomy and increased covertness and survivability.
Various projects of Russian-made ships from destroyers to patrol boats will be showcased at EURONAVAL 2002, including the multi-purpose frigates Korsar and Gepard, project 11356 frigate, and attack ASW and patrol corvettes and missile patrol boats.
Hovercrafts will include the high-speed Bora guided-missile ship with air defenses and a powerful anti-ship missile system delivering missile salvos comparable to a project 956E destroyer or the Zubr and Murena-E landing ships.
Rosoboronexport will exhibit the new ship-borne antisubmarine, antiship and antiaircraft missile and artillery systems, distinguished by high productivity, accuracy, combat survivability and reliability.
The gems here are missile systems employing the Moskit and Yakhont heavy supersonic missiles. The Moskit missile can penetrate any existing ship's air/missile defense systems and destroy any major sea target.
Another feature of the Russian pavilion will be the lighter (and less expensive) Uran antiship missile system, as well as the Shturm-Ataka and Vikhr-K short-range missile/gun systems.
Among shipborne air defense assets to be showcased are the Klinok and Shtil-1 antiaircraft missile systems, the Kashtan antiaircraft missile/gun system and the Palma antiaircraft mounted with Sosna-R hypersonic SAMs defeating small-sized air, water-surface and ground targets.
There will also be a display of torpedoes, shipborne helicopters; surface, underwater and air target detection systems; and battle management and coastal missile and artillery systems.
Besides naval equipment, Rosoboronexport also offers potential customers comprehensive solutions for maritime defense tailored to their financial profile.
This includes upgrading warships and integrating them, if necessary, to subsystems of different national origins.
As part of EURONAVAL 2002, Rosoboronexport will also present the 1st International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS 2003) scheduled to take place June 25-29 in St. Petersburg, Russia. The show will be the largest-ever display of Russian naval equipment.
