US TELECOM ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS, INC. ANNOUNCES ACCEPTANCE OF TELEMAX-U BILLING & CUSTOMER CARE SYSTEM BY UNITED TELEPHONE INVESTMENTS (UTI), BUDAORS, HUNGARY HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-Asianet/ -- Effective August 29, 1997, United Telephone Investments (UTI), Budaors, Hungary accepted the Telemax-U Billing & Customer Care System provided by US Telecom Advanced Technology Systems, for use in the four UTI wireline telephone companies. Telemax-U is the world class UNIX based customer care and billing application developed and marketed by Advanced Technology Systems. UTI operates four wireline telephone companies in Hungary; Kisduna-Com Rt., Dunatel Rt., Egom-Com Rt. and Bakonytel Rt., which plan to serve approximately 260,000 customers within three years. These companies were formed as a result of the concession process initiated in Hungary several years ago and plan to expand growth of telephone service throughout the general population. The Telemax-U application provides UTI with the ability to substantially improve the service they can provide to their customers. The application is highly modular. As a part of the initial installation, UTI has implemented modules supporting security, Service Order, Subscriber Account Management, Message Processing, Rating and Subscriber Billing. The operations that have been automated by the use of this software have been greatly improved both in terms of productivity and accuracy. Rudolph Fischer, Chief Executive Officer of UTI said, "It is our intention to provide our customers with quality service, delivered within committed time frames, and billed accurately. We are convinced that Telemax-U will help us to achieve those goals." The Telemax-U application is a UNIX(TM) application that uses Oracle Relational Data Base and supports a client server architecture. The hardware platform cost to support rapid growth, so common today with new competitive entrants into the market place, makes Telemax-U a logical choice for those companies." A benchmark test activity recently completed in cooperation with Sequent Computer, Oracle and Advanced Technology Systems demonstrated that scalability to 10,000,000 access lines is possible.
