BANGKOK, March 17 -- PRNewswire/AsiaNet
Diebold's new family of automated teller machines (ATMs) is a success with numerous bank customers across Thailand. Opteva(TM) ATMs, which combine enhanced security, convenience and reliability, will be showcased at the Retail Finance Asia Pacific 2004 Conference & Expo, held March 17-19 in Bangkok, Thailand.
A global leader in self-service delivery systems, security and services, Diebold has sold some 300 Opteva ATMs to a number of Thailand bank customers, including Bangkok Bank, Bank of Ayudhya, Thai Military Bank and Siam City Bank. Regional countries with Opteva ATMs include China, Indonesia and Australia.
"These Asia-Pacific orders represent a growing trend of the universal acceptance of Opteva in the global marketplace," said James L.M. Chen, vice president of Asia-Pacific for Diebold. "Our customers are delighted that we're able to offer their customers access to the newest state-of-the-art equipment to perform banking transactions."
After extensive market research, Diebold implemented various ATM security enhancements -- features that not only make the user's experience more pleasant, but also more secure. They include consumer awareness mirrors, various lighting options, a recessed keypad and display area and privacy display filters to reduce the opportunity for PIN surfing.
To help protect the assets of financial institutions, the Opteva line features advanced security and fraud deterrence mechanisms offered only by Diebold, including a fraud-resistant dispenser and card reader, as well as a Triple DES-compliant encrypted PIN-pad.
"These agreements are further proof that the financial industry recognizes that Opteva sets the standard for the latest in self-service automation," said Verapun Patanayindee, managing director of Diebold Thailand. "Financial institutions are embracing the next generation of advanced functionality at the self-service terminal. The Opteva family represents the latest evolution in Diebold's rich history of innovation and thought leadership in self-service technology."
Powered by Agilis(R), Diebold's open-standard, cross-vendor software platform, and supported by Diebold Premier Services(R), Opteva represents a substantial leap forward in self-service technology. It offers customers a new generation of self-service solutions that take into account the ATM technology, software solutions, and services and support necessary for financial institutions to thrive in today's marketplace. The flexibility of Opteva gives financial institutions the ability to customize solutions to delight retail banking consumers and positively affect ATM delivery channel performance.
A feature exclusive to Diebold's Opteva family is the Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 open architecture, which allows financial institutions to more easily and quickly integrate future technologies and facilitate faster transactions through high-speed communications with ATM peripherals.
Opteva ATMs also provide enhanced maintenance options, such as the largest rear operator monitor in the industry with video and touch-screen capabilities, a full keyboard and software that provides an easy-to-use maintenance interface. Opteva's use of Agilis software allows terminals to feature at-a-glance, easy-to-follow operator instructions, such as video-based instructions with systematic directions for many maintenance procedures, including cash replenishment and balancing.
Diebold conducted extensive primary research in 18 countries around the world to assist in developing this family of next generation solutions. The Opteva series delivers the exclusive features that were identified as being highly valued by financial institutions and their end-user consumers.
Diebold Thailand, established in 1999, employs 80 associates and controls 60 percent of the Thailand market, providing banking services for some 3,500 ATMs for financial institutions across the country.
Diebold, Incorporated is a global leader in providing integrated self-service delivery systems and services.
