BANGKOK, March 17 -- PRNewswire/AsiaNet
Diebold, Incorporated, a global leader in self-service delivery systems, security and services, will showcase its Opteva(TM) 740 through-the-wall drive-up automated teller machine (ATM) at the Retail Finance Asia Pacific 2004 Conference & Expo, March 17-19 in Bangkok, Thailand.
"The Opteva 740 is the most versatile drive-up ATM in the industry, and can easily be configured in a variety of ways to meet customer needs," said James L.M. Chen, vice president of Asia Pacific for Diebold. "In response to the changing needs of financial institutions and consumers, this drive-up ATM offers exclusive benefits to the global financial industry."
The 740 drive-up can serve as an advanced-function ATM, a cash dispenser for fast-cash lanes or it can be upgraded with full deposit automation functions, allowing financial institutions to deploy the terminal in a way that best meets their needs. The unit makes drive-up banking more convenient and comfortable for the consumer while giving branch personnel a chance to focus more on acquisition and retention-related activities.
It is powered by Agilis(R), Diebold's open-standard, cross-vendor software platform, and is also supported by Diebold Premier Services(R). The Opteva 740 was designed with one of the smallest footprints in the industry and provides maximum installation flexibility to accommodate various construction mediums for easy upgrades and replacements.
Diebold has installed more than half of all bank-owned ATMs within the United States and was instrumental in developing the original drive-up ATM format as a means of consumer convenience in banking. In today's busy society, consumers are initially drawn to drive-up ATMs as a quick and convenient means to conduct their banking transactions.
The Opteva 740 maximizes this advantage by facilitating faster transactions through high-speed communications with ATM peripherals, such as the card reader and receipt printer, by employing Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 architecture -- a feature exclusive to Diebold's Opteva family. This is an open architecture standard, which offers significant advantages to financial institutions by allowing them to more easily and quickly integrate future technologies.
The Opteva 740 is the first drive-up ATM to offer a two-color graphical receipt printer with high-resolution graphic printing capabilities. The printer offers further convenience and time-saving techniques with the ability to print full-sized statements and loan applications without having to visit a branch.
Diebold's proven Intelligent Depository Module(TM) (IDM) accepts a check deposit without the use of an envelope, and the bulk note acceptor can accept a stack of 100 notes offering immediate authentication and credit to the consumers account. These features increase the accuracy and speed of transactions, and allow financial institutions to migrate deposit transactions to the ATM, offering more convenience to consumers.
Financial institutions can target marketing strategies to the drive-up consumer through the Opteva 740's enhanced capabilities for marketing, cross selling and brand building. The 15.1-inch consumer LCD with touch-screen capability enables a clear image even in bright sunlight conditions.
Diebold, Incorporated is a global leader in providing integrated self-service delivery systems and services. Diebold employs more than 13,000 associates with representation in more than 88 countries worldwide and is headquartered in North Canton, Ohio, USA. Diebold reported revenue of $2.1 billion in 2003 and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol 'DBD'.
