ElectronicDisplayCentral.com is a free daily news and information source for LED, LCD, plasma, OLED, electroluminescent, CRT, projection and emerging technologies -- displays, systems, narrowcasting, software and content.
This year's statistics reveal:
- Reporting companies average 3.46 technology activities each; the most
popular technologies are: LCD, 63%: LEDs, 56%; plasma, 23%; and
projection, 23%.
- Survey respondents are involved in display manufacturing, installation
and service, as well as software, narrowcasting, routing systems, Web
production, content creation (script writing, graphics, video
production), audiovisual and wireless systems; and more.
- 72% -- double last year's count -- indicate involvement in script,
story or video production.
- 50% of respondents market internationally; 45% nationally and 5%
regionally.
- 46% use wireless systems, 39% create computer graphics, 30% are
involved in Web systems.
- 37% of respondents reveal a business sharing agreement with other
companies.
- 33% of respondents increased their R&D budgets by an average of 52%;
one-half increased their marketing budgets by an average of 50%.
- Total reported sales was $1.2 billion.
- The respondents' main complaint? Cost of displays.

Most were from the United States, but 24% were from other countries -- including Canada, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Taiwan and Austria.
