(ISC)2(R) Establishes Asian Advisory Board to Meet the Growing Demand for Information Security Certification in Asia

HONG KONG, Aug. 12 -- Xinhua/ PRNewswire/ AsiaNet Senior Information Security Professionals to Provide Insight and Guidance on Information Security Issues in Asia The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2(R), the non-profit international leader in its 15th year of educating, qualifying and certifying information security professionals worldwide, today named nine senior security professionals as members of its Asian Advisory Board. The volunteer advisory board will advise the (ISC)2 executive management team on information security policies and trends and make recommendations regarding professional certification programs offered to the information security workforce in Asia. The inaugural meeting will be held in Hong Kong on August 17, 2004. In the future, the Board will meet at least two times a year, with representatives from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. The appointed members were selected specifically for their ability to contribute significantly to this aim," said James E. Duffy, CISSP, president and CEO of (ISC)2. The charter members of the (ISC)2 Asian Advisory Board are: Chester Soong, CISSP, CISA (Hong Kong), co-chairman of the Asian Advisory Board, is currently the director of certification services for (ISC)2 in the Asia Pacific area. He is also the managing director of Security Consulting Services Limited. Chester is the founding president of the Information Systems Security Association Hong Kong Chapter and a member of the Hong Kong CERT steering committee. Jae Woo Lee PhD, CISSP, CISA, CISM (South Korea), co-chairman of the Asian Advisory Board, is the Chair Professor at Dongguk University, Graduate School of International Affairs & Information and president of Cyber Forensic Professional Association in Seoul. He is the first president of the Korea Information Security Agency and chairman of the National Information System Security and Audit Committee. Mark Ames, CISSP, CISA, CISM (Australia), heads ICT Risk, a specialist consulting and risk management company. Mark chairs the Board of the Information Security Research Centre at Queensland University of Technology, and is Vice Chair of the Information Security Interest Group in Australia. Duan Haixin PhD, CISSP (China), is an associate professor at Tsinghua University of China and is also the director of CCERT, with the responsibility for the security of the CERNET backbone and Tsinghua's campus network.
