BANGKOK, Oct. 11 -- PRNewswire/ AsiaNet
Airepel, a company based in Wilmington Delaware (USA) has announced that
they are actively working with Thai officials to demonstrate Avipel(TM) in the
fight to slow the spread of avian influenza (AI). "One of the ways that AI
spreads is through movement of wild birds," said Ken Ballinger, Airepel Vice
President of New Business Development. "Wild birds are reservoirs of AI and
can spread the disease throughout their territory to resident free-living birds
and non-confined poultry. One way to reduce the spread of the disease is to
reduce the presence of wild birds at critical locations in commercial poultry
operations and at the village level."
Airepel has demonstrated Avipel in Thailand and shown that surfaces coated
with the product will repel wild birds. "The Thailand Department of Livestock
Development of the Ministry of Agriculture accepts the principle of applying
Avipel to repel free-living and resident birds which are regarded as reservoir
hosts of avian influenza," said Professor Simon Shane -- Professor Emeritus in
poultry diseases and an international consultant to the poultry industry on
prevention of infection through biosecurity and application of sound
management.
"We have product available and are willing to send it by air to help slow
AI in Thailand," said Chris Widrig -- Airepel's President. "Our product is
controlling wild birds in the US and in other countries."
Airepel's distributor in Thailand is Thai Stable. All inquiries in
Thailand should be directed to Charus Kosanan (0) 2942-1505-8, (0) 1269-7554

Airepel is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arkion Life Sciences. "Airepel
focuses its resources on continuing to exploit the rich vein of new and
innovative products," said Chris Widrig, President of Airepel. "We are finding
