RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Jan. 6--PRNewswire-AsiaNet/InfoQuest
Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), a leading global provider of wireless
equipment and services, today announced that TRuepoint(TM), Harris'
next-generation microwave radio, has been homologated and approved by China's
Ministry for Industry Information (MII) for use throughout China.
"Harris' TRuepoint passed our rigorous homologation process," stated Mr.
Yan Yun, director, Quality Supervision and Testing Center of Radio
Communications Products, MII, China. "Harris met our exacting standards for
performance and reliability."
"TRuepoint's scalability and ability to support multiple applications from
a single platform make it the perfect solution for the diverse networks within
the Chinese market," said Qiu Jian, Harris managing director for China. "Given
the market's dramatic growth rate, both in terms of traffic volume and service
applications, TRuepoint will give service providers the ability to meet
consumers' demands for many years to come."
With more than 250 million cellular phone users in 2004 and an estimated
compound annual growth rate of much as 16.5 percent, China is widely viewed as
the largest single wireless communications market in the world. Without
homologation from China's MII, wireless vendors cannot sell microwave products
for use within China. TRuepoint, the industry's first universal platform for
point-to-point digital communications in the cellular backhaul market, is
currently being deployed by multiple service providers in China and is already
operating in networks nationwide.
About TRuepoint(TM)
TRuepoint leads the wireless backhaul industry in terms of both
performance and manageability. Its modular, software-selectable architecture
is able to seamlessly switch between PDH and SDH applications, enabling
service providers to use a universal platform to deliver multiple applications
throughout their networks. Designed specifically to deliver point-to-point
wireless service, TRuepoint can deliver service from 4 to 180 Mbps at
frequencies ranging from 6 to 38 GHz. In addition, service providers can
completely manage TRuepoint deployments remotely, with SNMP-based management.
Built in diagnostics and performance management are available.
