MELBOURNE, Sept. 1--MediaNet International-AsiaNet/InfoQuest Melbourne Business School will launch a second intake into its full-time MBA and is adding a new internship option under key changes set to take effect in 2006. The changes mean prospective students will be able to apply for either a January or September intake. Currently the School only offers a full-time intake in January, which is available in 16 months full-time intensive format. The new September intake will feature a 20-month full-time program option with a dedicated internship scheme, enabling students to undertake invaluable work experience with Australian or international employers. Associate Professor Jennifer George, MBS's Associate Dean of Academic Programs, said the changes enhanced the School's attractiveness to a "wider pool of talented and qualified prospective students globally" and in turn accelerated the School's international competitiveness. "A second intake aligns MBS's semester dates and admission cycles with the top-tier North American and European schools," she said. "While quality and reputation are paramount, other factors, such as timing and start dates, also come into play for prospective students when selecting an MBA school." Associate Professor George said MBS reviewed and refined its portfolio of programs to ensure choice and flexibility for students and to enrich the MBS learning experience. For example, she said a September intake paved the way for internships to be held in May, when the timing was better for both employers and students. "Currently internships are not particularly attractive to Australian employers because they typically include the traditionally quiet Christmas holiday period," she said. The internship scheme is supported by MBS's fully dedicated Career Services team. Other flow-on benefits from the changes are extended networking opportunities with employers and fellow students, as well as access to increased scholarship opportunities.
