MILPITAS, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire-Asianet/ -- Read-Rite Corporation (Nasdaq: RDRT) today announced the promotion of Sing Gee Tien, vice president and managing director of Read-Rite Thailand, to vice president of Read-Rite International. In his new position, Mr. Tien will be responsible for Read-Rite's manufacturing operations in Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. In making the announcement, Michael A. Klyszeiko, executive vice president, operations, said, "S.G. has demonstrated superior performance in leading the Read-Rite Thailand operation since joining the company in mid 1994. We believe now is the time to build upon the synergy among all of our Asian operations to enable us to continue to be a world class manufacturing organization. S.G. will be a key leader in making this happen." Mr. Tien joined Read-Rite in mid 1994 from Micropolis Corporation in Thailand, where he was vice president of operations. Prior to that he served as vice president of component manufacturing for Seagate Technology in Thailand. Mr. Tien has also held various management positions in engineering, manufacturing and finance with National Semiconductor in Singapore and Thailand, P.T. Jaya Sumpiles in Jakarta, Indonesia, ROLM Corporation, Hewlett Packard Corporation and Texas Instruments, Inc., all located in the United States. A native of Singapore, Mr. Tien holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Santa Clara. He and his family reside in Bangkok, Thailand.
