MELBOURNE--20 Jul--Medianet International-AsiaNet/ InfoQuest Beijing Metro Transit Automated Clearing Centre currently handles 9 million transactions per day and growing. Launched in time for the Olympics in August 2008, the Beijing Automated Clearing Centre (ACC) was a project conceived by the Beijing Infrastructure and Investment Company (BII) to provide a clearing house solution capable of servicing the needs of the Beijing Transport Network as it grew. The delivered solution was based on Vix ERG's integrated payments solution known as MASS, the system provides transit operators with back office transaction processing, financial management and clearing operations for ticket settlement operations. "We processed just over 1.4 million passenger journeys on our first day of operation across 5 rail lines. Today, the system handles transactions across 9 lines equating to an average of 9 million transactions per day. We are integrating a further 5 lines into the ACC by the end of 2010 and the customer aims to roll out 19 rail lines by 2015" said Mr. Steve Gallagher, Vix ERG's Chief Executive Officer. The implementation of this system has been a real boost for the region, helping Beijing provide a more efficient transportation system for its people and for its visitors. "The project introduced a state-of-the art smart card fare management system for the region. Vix ERG's ability to transfer knowledge with local staff ensured the system operates successfully" said Mr. Wang Jinli, Chief Technology Officer for Beijing Metro Network Administration Co. Ltd. Based on the success of the implementation of the Beijing ACC system and as a result of the strong relationship that had been struck between BII and Vix ERG through the process of the project execution and the subsequent support phases, BII and Vix ERG agreed to enter into a joint venture in late 2009 — forming the company BII-ERG. This company has the responsibility for providing the operational support and maintenance to the Beijing ACC as well as being charged with pursuing further development projects in Beijing and elsewhere in China. Since the joint venture was formed, it has been successful in winning tenders to the value of 180 million RMB (30 million AUD) and is pursuing other opportunities throughout China. As a result of this success in Beijing, Vix ERG is aggressively pursuing opportunities for the provision of clearing house systems in the Asia Pacific region. "It makes perfect sense for our business to pursue further opportunities within Asia. We’ve proven we can implement this style of system and provide real business benefit for our customers, but more importantly we’ve proven we understand how to work with the different cultures within Asia and in particular with strong local partners." said Steve Gallagher. Background: Vix ERG is an Australian-based company and a member of the Vix Technology Group of companies.
