Dr. Prasarn Trairatvorakul, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BOT) announced that on 15 October 2012 H.E. Dr. Wolfgang Sch?uble, Federal Finance Minister, the Federal Republic of Germany will visit the BOT on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the BOT. On this occasion, he will give his speech on “Asia and Europe — What we can learn from each other: Towards an economic policy model for the future.”
H.E. Dr. Wolfgang Sch?uble, the Federal Finance Minister of the Federal Cabinet of Mrs. Angela Merkel, has played a key role particularly in resolving the debt crisis in Europe. During his visit to the BOT, H.E. Dr. Wolfgang Sch?uble will share his experiences in addressing the European debt crisis with BOT’s executives at the 2nd BOT Policy Forum.
The BOT Policy Forum is organized as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the BOT. It is aimed to be a platform to share the views and insights of prominent international economic leaders on issues pertaining to monetary and finance. At the Inaugural BOT Policy Forum, Madame Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was the Keynote Speaker on 12 July 2012.
The BOT will continue to organize the BOT Policy Forum in 2013, and plans to invite 2 prominent central bank Governors to be our Keynote Speakers. Dr. Prasarn aims to use the BOT Policy Forum as a venue for the BOT to utilize knowledge received from all speakers in improving monetary policy implementation to promote sustainable economic stability of Thailand.
