The Statement Coat
Stunning outerwear takes centre-stage with beautifully cut coats, capes and form-fitting jackets. Texture is key; a sleek beige cape jacket with contrast edging is cut from specially woven double-faced wool; plush winter white tailored coats have military details and opulent fur collars while a washed leather chocolate coat comes with a detachable grey shearling collar. Over the knee boots and slouchy washed leather totes with chunky Perspex studs complete the look.
Easy Pieces
Trousers, from tweed peg legs and stretch jersey jodhpurs to city-clicker pinstripe shorts, make a return while the classic shift gets a modern update with graphic colour blocking. Supple knits in fine gauge merino are perfect for layering and contrasting with cool pieces such as a supple black washed leather gilet or a panelled jersey biker jacket in black and charcoal. A pale grey poncho taps into the utility trend in a grown up but extremely chic way. A pair of strappy suede sandals provides a flash of the season’s key accent colour — tomato red.
Wild Things
Animal prints are reworked in myriad ways. Leopard print coats or biker jackets are topped with shaggy Mongolian lambskin collars. Faux fur in shimmering sealskin or snow leopard is cut into beautifully tailored coats. For evening the leopard print cocktail dress is reinvented in an ombre grey print and finished with silver beading and antiqued sequins. Sleek jacquard dresses and pencil skirts in lead grey and black shimmer with subtle animal effects while zebra studding adorns clean suede heels and pared down camel clutch bags.
Into the Night
The understated mood of autumn/winter 2010 continues into evening. Champagne satin is folded into a graphic asymmetric bodiced dress. An Art Deco inspired silk dress has a scalloped hem and is covered in matt black sequins while a tasselled mini-skirt is embroidered with burnished crystals and beading. Ripples of light chiffon petals flutter on the heels of black suede sandals and a petite evening pouch.
