World leading building products manufacturer awards CEVA contract to distribute its products throughout Thailand.
CEVA Logistics, one of the world’s leading supply chain management companies, has been awarded a one year contract by Gyproc Thailand, a subsidiary company of Saint-Gobain, to distribute the company’s building materials to construction sites and dealers throughout Bangkok, Central and East regions. The one year contract extension, which runs throughout 2010, is an extension of a previous agreement signed in August 2009, and testament to the accuracy and quality of the service CEVA has provided.
The agreement will see CEVA and Gyproc Thailand working in partnership to further increase the efficiency of the distribution network and continue to improve working practices relating to the expert handling of Gyproc Thailand’s products.
Thai Gypsum Products (TGP), wholly owned by the French building materials giant, plans to open up to three Gyproc Centers in Thailand this year and intends to have a total of 30 centers operating in the country within three to five years. An agile and accurate supply chain has a critical role to play in achieving these growth plans and CEVA has provided a scalable solution that meets the needs of Gyproc today as well as those in the future.
“We are delighted Gyproc has extended its relationship with CEVA. Gyproc Thailand products are challenging to handle due to their delicate nature and our focus remains on ensuring the product is handled correctly and arrives safely at construction sites. Although this contract is our first in the construction industry in Thailand, it highlights CEVA’s strength in providing specialist logistics solutions,” said Dean Thorpe, Managing Director of CEVA in Thailand.
“Gyproc Thailand has been a leader in manufacturing gypsum products for over 40 years and in working with CEVA we are seeking to increase operational efficiencies in Gyproc Thailand’s supply chain. This will assist us in improving efficiency and costs in our business and will enhance our service to all our clients,” said Mr. Thorpe.
Thailand consumes 59 million square meters of wall and ceiling products a year, of which 40% is controlled by Gyproc while a unit of Siam Cement Group dominates with a 50% share. The rest is owned by small brands. Gyproc now has 300 dealers in Thailand, 30 of which are capable of developing a
Gyproc Center. To meet these requirements over 10 six-wheel trucks will be dedicated to Gyproc Thailand to distribute its products from two warehouses to multiple delivery points in Bangkok and the metropolitan, central and Eastern areas of the country.
