Bangkok--5 Oct--Anantara
To mark the occasion of this year’s Chulalongkorn Day, the Thai Elephant Therapy Project (TETP) in conjunction with Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa, Chiang Mai University, the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre (TECC), Rajamangala University of Technology and The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation are organizing a complimentary elephant therapy clinic for autistic children.
TETP aims to provide autistic children with an opportunity to develop their social interaction and emotional skills by using elephants as a working partner with occupational therapists, thus showcasing Thailand as a pioneering leader in the support of research into alternative therapy solutions. The elephant therapy programme is available in one, two and twelve day courses at the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre in Lampang starting from 23rd of October, 2010. Families with autistic children aged from seven to nineteen are encouraged to attend the programme.
The King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament in 2010 raised over 1.8m Baht to fund the forthcoming research trials at Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa’s on-site Elephant Camp. For more information, please contact Mr Phuwadol Muangkam, (TETP), Chiang Mai University at 053-949295.
