EXIM Thailand’s New President Appointed

Bangkok--6 Oct--EXIM BANK Ministry of Finance appointed Mr. Kanit Sukonthaman as President of EXIM Thailand, effective on October 7, 2010. Dr. Naris Chaiyasoot, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), said that after Dr. Apichai Boontherawara completed his 4-year term as President of EXIM Thailand on June 30, 2010, the Bank carried out the new President selection process in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s guidelines. With the Finance Minister’s consent, EXIM Thailand’s Board of Directors unanimously named Mr. Kanit Sukonthaman the new President of EXIM Thailand. Mr. Kanit’s 4-year tenure as President commences on October 7, 2010. Mr. Kanit Sukonthaman obtained his bachelor’s degree with honors in Economics from Birmingham City University, UK and MBA from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, UK. He has extensive work experience in international finance and banking, serving as senior executive at Citibank, Bangkok Branch; Union Bank of Switzerland, Singapore Branch; Bank of Asia Company Limited as well as several finance and securities companies. Mr. Kanit was also a member of the Senate’s Subcommittee on Banking, Financial Institutions and Capital Market. His latest position before joining EXIM Thailand was Senior Executive Vice President of Accounting and Finance Group, Government Housing Bank.
