Office of Trade Logistics, Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, is holding a 4th Logistics Model Award 2010 on October 7, 2010 at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC) as part of Thailand International Logistics Fair 2010 (TILOG 2010) with a presence of Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Deputy Minister of Commerce, who has presided over the event.
This year, the judging committee, consisted of renowned and experienced persons in related fields from both government and private sectors, has culled out winners for 5 award fields. Yet, there are winners who passed the winning principles and qualifications in only 3 fields. The award for product manufacturers or exporters (logistics service users) in Logistics Management of Industrial Product Export is presented to SIAM SENATER CO., LTD. While there are two awards given to logistics service providers, --- Integrated Logistics Service Provider and Freight Forwarder/Freight Transport Agency --- and the winners are SCG Logistics Management Co., LTD. (SCG Logistics) and Excellent Business Corporation International LIMITED (EBCI) consecutively.
SIAM SENATER CO., LTD. is the only organization amongst other logistics service users that has been selected for Logistics Management of Industrial Product Export award this year and the 4th Logistics Model Award 2010 is also its first entry. The company specializes and exports auto parts employing Japanese style’s Toyota Production System (TPS) and customizing it to fit the company’s manufacturing system, volume and employees. SIAM SENATER ‘s General Manager Mr. Ariya Tuanthong revealed that being selected as a winner at this finest event has made the company more confident in its corporate strategies. Moreover, comments and advices from the committee who are all logistics veterans and has previously inspected SIAM SENATER’s factory have been very useful and contributed to a development of which would make its corporate logistics system even more efficient. Even though the company was viewed as SME, it is determined to facilitate the best competitive strategies as it could to be tantamount to those foreign big establishments. In other words, this award is a moral boost for the company to immerse in endless improvement.
The other two awards given to logistics service providers --- Integrated Logistics Service Provider and Freight Forwarder/Freight Transport Agency --- are presented to SCG Logistics Management Co., LTD. (SCG Logistics) and Excellent Business Corporation International LIMITED (EBCI) consecutively. It is the first time that SCG Logistics participated in this Logistics Model Award. Not only its standardized logistics system but also its social and environmental responsibility that emphasizes on ‘Green Logistics’ policy has eventually earned the company a victory at 4th the Logistics Model Award 2010.
SCG Logistics’ Managing Director Mr. Panumas Srisook said that the company’s strength that has impressed the judging committee might be its customer-centric policy that the company has taken to consideration to optimize its logistics system. It reduces the cost by creating networks, liaising between employees with the latest technology and, as a result, every working step has become smooth, fast, flexible and traceable. In this regard, the company is delighted to know that its logistics management will be a model for other providers or even trigger their new ideas so as to streamline logistics industry as it is obviously seen that Thai logistics model is competitive on international level.
Another award for logistics service providers to mention is Freight Forwarder/Freight Transport Agency) and the winner is EXCELLENT BUSINESS CORPORATION INTERNATIONAL LIMITED: EBCI who has joined this Logistics Model Award and won the same prize for three years in a row. With knowledge and visions from 25 years of running business, the company has successfully formulated its own procedure including transportation, domestic and international distribution, standardizing measures and universal wisdom topping up with its harnessing from the privileges of both import and export tariffs in order to make the most out of international trades.
Mr. Sayun Chandarawipaswong, CEO of EXCELLENT BUSINESS CORPORATION INTERNATIONAL LIMITED, stated that since the company has twice won this award, it has to come up with a better development plan in comparison with those of the previous years as this is one of the aspects that the judging committee will consider for any organization who won the award in the past. This has become more challenging for the company than the others.
The Logistics Model Award 2010 has been organized for the fourth time by the Office of Trade Logistics, Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce. It is aimed to create awareness in logistics and supply chain development among the exporters of logistics products and services in accordance with the development strategy of logistics devised by the government and Ministry of Commerce. The awards for manufacturer and exporter group and logistics service providers for international trades have been categorized to many fields. The judging principles used for Logistics Model winner selection are Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and logistics management efficiency in all spheres which cover Cost Reduction, On Time Delivery, Flexibility, Safety, Reliability, Competitiveness, Knowledge and Good Governance
