SIA CARGO BEGINS DIRECT FREIGHTER SERVICE FROM BANGKOK TO NARITA

Bangkok--15 Oct--SINGAPORE AIRLINES SIA Cargo will be launching direct freighter services from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita with effect from 3 November 2010. The twice-weekly services will operate every Wednesday and Friday. The freighters will call on Bangkok on their return to Singapore. Thailand is a major exporter from South East Asia to Japan. Exports include manufactured products, aircraft engines, automobiles, machinery, electronic goods and perishable shipments. "We are delighted to launch direct freighter services between the two airports. The services will increase the status of Bangkok, Narita, and Singapore as major Asian gateways for cargo. They will also give freight forwarders more choices," commented Mr Tan Tiow Kor, SIA Cargo’s Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing. With the new freighter services between Bangkok and Narita, SIA Cargo will offer a total of six weekly Singapore-Bangkok freighter flights (together with the existing four-times-weekly Singapore-Bangkok—Shanghai services). SIA Cargo’s parent company Singapore Airlines will also be operating new twice-daily passenger services between Singapore and Tokyo Haneda airport from 31 October 2010, complementing the existing twice-daily passenger services to Tokyo Narita. These new freighter services as well as the new passenger services to Haneda will further facilitate and enhance the economic ties and cooperation between South East Asia and Japan.
