Bangkok--21 Oct--BrandComm The winner in the Popular Vote prize category of ZEQUENZ Design Contest 360? Creative Life has been announced following one-month online voting through www.360creativelife.com, at which voters from more than 57 countries across Asia Pacific cast their vote in September. The journal cover design contest is organized by Zenith Enterprise Co Ltd in association with the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) in a bid to sow the seeds for a more creative society in Thailand and Asia Pacific. According to Zenith Enterprise’s Managing Director Sinee Damrongkitkarn, who is a member of the judges, ZEQUENZ Design Contest “360? Creative Life” kicked off in June. She said, “The competition has got a very good response from students and the general public in Thailand and Asia-Pacific countries including Malaysia, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, for instance. More than 800 have been submitted to the judges and 206 were on the shortlist. Voting for most favorite entries opened online at www.360creativelife.com in September. Voters from 57 countries joined the voting, and this resulted in 30 entries on the finalist. The Popular Vote wining design is Freedom of Being from Thailand.” Popular Vote: Freedom of Being (Thailand) Inspiration: Freedom of choosing what to do or deciding what to be. It connotes boundless opportunity and imagination. The cage represents boundary and restrictions that block imagination. Out there, lively birds and fishes communicate freedom and harmony: though they a totally different but they can be located perfectly together. The curved line signifies the sense of comfort, freedom, mobility and softness — moving away from traditional mindsets. Vice Chairman of Organizing Committee and a member of the judges, M.L. Kathathong Thongyai, Director of the Office of Product Value Development, Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, said that the design skills and creativity of Thai contestants were second to none. “The contest provides Thai designers, no matter they are newcomers or professionals, an inspiring opportunity to express their potential. It therefore helps widen their design outlook that will enable them to be more competitive at the international level. This is aligned with the Government and DEP’s initiatives on Creative Economy.” Judges include representatives from the Department of Export Promotion, Thailand Industrial Design Society and Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC) as well as member of the media, celebrities and private organisations. There are four prizes offered and these are totally worth more than US$6,700. Winner of the Grand Prize will receive cash prize of US$2,500. Each of the two runners-up will receive cash prize of US$1,000. The Popular Vote winner will grab cash prize of US$500. All of them will also receive Certificate of Honor along with one set of ZEQUENZ journal (special edition), plus a complimentary one-year membership from I-DESIGN magazine and Asia Book. Additionally, each of ten lucky voters who votes for the Grand Prize winner will receive one set of ZEQUENZ journal (special edition). “Judging has been concluded on 19 October. There are ten top-scoring entries, of which three will be selected for the Grand Prize and two Runners up. Winners announcement and award presentation will be held on 25 November 2010,” said Sinee. The 30 finalist entries as well as mock-ups of award-winning designs will be displayed at ZEQUENZ’s booth in BIG+BIH 2010, which will run until 24 October this year at BITEC, Bang Na.
