THONGLOR MIDTOWN, formerly named Playground, billed as Thailand's "first super chic concept store," despite its design innovation, founded in year 2005, failed to find a sufficient market.
Later on in October 2008, J&W Development Company Limited has signed the agreement with Noble Development Public Company Limited to manage the Playground mall and change the exterior perspective of the building from slate-black to laths wood-color making soften felling and rename to “Thonglor Midtown” due to the location about mid of Thonglor with under the concept of “Private Furniture Store”.
The major lesser in Thonglor Midtown, formerly Playground, is D้cor Mart, the showroom concept of D้cor Mart Kitchen Studio with the flag store world class brands of SieMatic, Binova, Kohler Kitchens, and Miele.
Currently, Thonglor Midtown has opened for the organizers to use the atrium hall, called “Conceptual Event Hall” with 280 square meters to create their own definitions.
In October 2010, same as the concept of Conceptual Event Hall, Thonglor Midtown will welcome the conceptual store retailers who have their own characters with their own professional specialists, with under new concept of “Thonglor Midtown — Conceptual Store & Event”.
GETTING THERE: Take a taxi to Thong Lo and after you pass J-Avenue a bit on the left hand side, then look for Thonglor Midtown on the right hand side passing Thonglor Soi 18, just next to Thonglor Police Station, opposite D้cor Mart Design Center. Or take the BTS to Thong Lo Station. Then, Thonglor Mid Town is only 15 to 20 minutes walk from BTS Thong Lo station, or if you don't want to walk there, just hop on the shutter bus (Songthaew) for 8 baht and it will take you there.
