Bangkok--22 Oct--Vivaldi PR TRIA Integrative Wellness Centre will host pioneering Integrative Care for Autism Spectrum Disorders Conference 2010 on November 25 — 27. Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) now affect around one in every hundred children who suffer throughout their lives from social withdrawal, communication deficits and stereotypic repetitive behaviors. Responding to ASD’s increasing prevalence, one of Asia’s most comprehensive wellness centers is to host an international conference on integrative care for those with the disorder. Some of the world’s leading autism researchers will gather at TRIA Integrative Wellness Centre (November 25-27, 2010) to share their knowledge with both the Thai medical community and the parents of ASD children. The 2-day Academic Conference held at TRIA will be followed by a free-of-charge Public Seminar and Workshop on November 27 for parents at Piyavate Hospital. “The aim of conference is to assist families and care givers of ASD-afflicted persons, providing them with information on the latest care and treatments available, as well as opportunities to meet and network with others whose lives are affected by ASD,” said Professor Nithi Mahanonda, M.D., FRACP, FACC, FSCAI, FCSANZ, CEO of Piyavate Hospital and chairman of the conference organising committee. The son of keynote speaker, Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, is recovering from autism with the combined help of biomedical and behavioral interventions. One of the world’s leading care providers for treatment of the disease, Dr. Bradstreet will be available for Personal Consultations with other parents at the conference. Although exact etiology of ASD is unknown, family and twin studies strongly support genetic roles in ASD. Dr. Pornprot Limprasert, a clinical molecular geneticist at Prince of Songkla University, has been working on genetic studies in Thai ASD children. He will show his research results in genetic screening and association with ASD. These findings may help to give a proper management, genetic counseling and prevention in some families. Ms.Kobkul Sudsuansri, Espiard, Ph.D from Biological Medical Laboratory, France will share information about Newly Recognized Biomarkers and the role JP for early diagnosis.“Recently we have witnessed an apparent increase in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. Early treatment for the underlying medical disorders and intensive education and rehabilitation can help children with ASD to develop learn new skills” said Dr.Kobkul. While the Academic Conference addresses the latest research developments and an integrative approach to curing and caring for autism, the Public Forum will engage parents in sharing the pains, the joy and the successes in caring for autistic children. Highlighting how early treatment of ASD through intensive education and rehabilitation can help autistic children to develop and learn skills, the conference will illustrate how conventional practices have exacerbated the difficulties faced by ASD-affected families. The conference will also promote appropriate public services for ASD children, including health care education and social support. The ‘Integrative Care for Autism Spectrum Disorders Conference 2010’ is expected to attract around 200 medical professionals and 400 parents of ASD children from Thailand, and across Asia. Professional attendees will include representatives from research and academic institutions, and public and private healthcare individuals associated with the treatment of ASD. Recently, the world has witnessed an apparent increase in diagnoses of ASD. However, the reasons of this increase are yet unclear as children are usually diagnosed based solely upon behavioral criteria with little to no consideration for potential biomedical underpinnings. The Academic Conference sessions will cover the following key topics: - Overview of ASD in Thailand and early detection - Genetic studies on Thai ASD children - The role of heavy metal exposure in ASD and ADHD - Integrative medicine in ASD - Neuroimmune problems and seizures in ASD - Biomarkers and data study - Allergy, nutrition and detoxification in ASD - Research on the behavioral effects of hyperbaric treatment on 100 children with autism in Thailand - Energy therapy in ASD - The critical role of the gut to autism and ADHD symptoms and plans for recovery - Psychotherapy for ASD kids and family - Behavioral therapy and energy therapy - Chiropractor acupuncture, and stem cell therapy in autism Seats are limited and at least one month advance notice is required by parents in order to allow testing for biomarkers.
