Bangkok--27 Oct--Australian Embassy
The Poetry of Public Space is an exhibition of 33 Color and Black and White images by Australian-Indian photographer Yask Desai to be held at the Indian Cultural Centre, from the 6th to the 12th of November 2010.
The work celebrates the vibrancy and purpose of street life in India and seeks to convey the melting pot of commerce and social interaction that abounds within the public domain of India’s cities.
Born in Melbourne Australia, Yask’s father is originally from Gujarat and his mother is Australian. He completed a B.A in media studies from Swinburne University in Melbourne before coming to India and completing an M.A in Mass communication from MCRC at Jamia Millia Islamia University. He has since divided his time between India and Australia, spending long periods in India making documentary films and photographing the changing cultural and social landscape.
The exhibition is open from 11 am to 7pm every day. An opening ceremony will be held at 6pm on the 6th of November 2010.
The Indian Cultural Centre is located at No. 2, 27th Floor Jasmine City Towers Sukhumvit Soi 23 (BTS Asoke).
