Donation benefits 160 students at Baan Huay Plu Nang school
Chevrolet Krabi and Phuket, Chevrolet Sales Thailand (CST) and Chevrolet customers recently joined hands in putting together an educational donation package for Baan Huay Plu Nang school, a primary school in Krabi, Thailand. This meaningful event was led by Mr. Thongchai Jira-alongkorn, Managing Director of Viriyah Chevrolet Group and Mr. Martin Apfel, President of General Motors Thailand/ Southeast Asia and Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) Limited.
The group were warmly welcomed by School Headmaster Kasidate Kulsri and all his students from kintergarden to Grade 6. Before handover of donation package, a group of students specially greeted their kind guests with maginficant local performances.
As representatives for the Chevrolet Viriyah Group and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, Mr. Thongchai Jira-alongkorn and Mr. Martin Apfel delightfully presented the donation package to Headmaster Kasidate. There were two sets of computers; personally put forward by Mr. Thongchai, school stationeries from dealers and CST employees, books to upgrade the library's collection from customers, scholarships and lastly, charming Chevy & Jiji safety dolls which seemed to have won great smiles from the children.
The 10,000-baht scholarships were raised by CST employees, who also donated stationeries to the school. A number of Chevrolet customers and the Chevrolet dealership in Krabi also donated funds towards the scholarships.
An avid volleyball fan, Mr. Apfel couldn’t resist the opportunity to play a few rounds with the school’s volleyball team when he spotted them practising nearby during his visit. He promptly joined the court for a few friendly rounds — in his work clothes — to the appreciation (and entertainment) of the students, their parents and staffs.
