It is truly a concerted contribution from everyone.”
Toyoda Gosei (Thailand) is going to use the tree-planting method called “Miyawaki Method” following Dr. Akira Miyawaki, a world-renowned ecologist noted for his work in reforestation and a professor emeritus at Yokohama National University. The method involves planting diversified tree seedlings from many species and sizes, including Yang Na, Ta Kein Tong, Kaew, Mok Mun, Ta Bak, Pud, Luang Prediyathorn and etc. in high density to restore natural ecosystems which have been shown to accelerate natural successional times compared to traditional planting methods. Dr. Akira Miyawaki has helped planting over 30 million trees worldwide and was the 2006 recipient of the Blue Planet Prize, the prestigious prize in ecology field that is an equivalence of the Nobel Prize.
Mr. Takada continued, “Our headquarter has kicked off the project last year by planting 15,000 tree seedlings last year. Toyoda Gosei (Thailand) is the first among all branches worldwide to carry on the initiative, and other branches are going to commence the activity in the near future. It is expected that the number of trees to be planted will reach 600,000 within 10 years as planned.”
“Throughout the past years, we are committed to becoming a green factory as we see the importance in both staff’s quality of life or CSR programs and advancement in production technology. We have been adding more green areas in the compound, promoting garbage recycling, building football fields, futsal fields and basketball fields for employees, providing fundings, computers and sports equipment to students in rural schools, as well as enforcing a campaign against narcotics, promoting zero-accident at workplace and supporting safe driving,” concluded Mr. Shigeru Takada.
