More than 1 million baht donated to charities
Moved by the plight of Thais affected by the current wave of flooding across the country, employees and dealers of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Thailand, have started a donation campaign to help victims.
So far, employees of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Thailand have donated about 23,000 baht in total. The campaign is still ongoing and donations will be channeled to the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under the Royal Patronage, represented by Mr. Pravit Hannarong, the foundation’s Vice Chairman. Meanwhile, GM Thailand and Chevrolet Thailand will donate 1 million baht to the Thai Red Cross Society, represented by M.R. Priyangsri Watanakun, Assistant Secretary General in Fund Raising & Director of Fund Raising Bureau .
“Our heart goes out to the many families affected by the flood in so many parts of Thailand. Everyone at Chevrolet and GM Thailand is saddened by the loss of lives and damages caused by this natural disaster. We have put together a comprehensive support package and are doing our best to help those suffering through these difficult times,” said Mr. Martin Apfel, President of GM Thailand and GM Southeast Asia Operations.
“Money can’t buy back what’s lost. However it can help people move on and rebuild their lives. We hope though that our efforts can go a long way in helping those affected to regain a footing in their lives,” he added.
Chevrolet Thailand and its 93 dealers nationwide have also agreed to launch a special Chevrolet Flood Support Campaign, through which discounts on parts and repairs for flood-damaged Chevrolet vehicles will be offered.
“Chevrolet dealers feel the pain of those affected by the flood, and the donation campaign is one of the things we can do to help. We truly sympathize with the victims of this crisis,” said Mr. Narong Kongprasert, President of the Chevrolet North Franchise Board.
Presently, 16 dealers from affected areas in the North, Northeast and Central regions have participated in the campaign. Electronic direct mails (eDM) and SMS’s have been sent to customers in the affected areas on 26-27 October 2010.
Under the campaign, Chevrolet will provide to its customer discounts of up to 30 percent for parts and a 15 percent discount on labor. Collision repairs are not covered by this campaign. The campaign will start from 15 November 2010 — the company will review the duration of the campaign as necessary.
