Sandy Nicholas Stuvik takes Thailand’s first Asian Championship
The Asian Formula Renault Championship rounds 9 and 10 were held at Zhuhai International Circuit in China on October 28-29, 2010. The 15 year old Thai racing driver, Sandy Stuvik sponsored by The Pizza Company, Dacon Inspection Services and T?V S?D PSB, had been leading the official practice sessions before securingP2 in qualifying behind Venezuela’s Samin Gomez. Tin Sritrai qualified 3rd, given Thailand two of the top three positions for the race.

In the first race, Sandy had a poor start and lost a place falling to third, but quickly regained the second place on the first lap and started challenging for the lead. Then a front wheel lock up on the second lap, destroyed Sandy’s front left tire, and he had to fight hard to finish the race in third position.
In race 2, Sandy started from 3rd place and again lost one place in the start, entering the first corner in 4th position, but by the end of the first lap he had overtaken 2 cars in front of him and started chasing down fellow Thai, Tin Sritrai for the lead. On lap 4 Sandy made a decisive move on Tin in Turn 4 and went up in the lead. From there Sandy pulled away and built up a secure lead to take the checquered flag with a good margin.

This ensures that Sandy secures the Asian formula Renault Championship with 2 rounds to go, as no one now can catch the fast Thai racing sensation. This will be the first time a Thai wins the AFR Championship and he is also the youngest driver ever to be crowned Asian Champion.
Sandy has been receiving offers to race in both USA, Australia and Europe and already next week will fly to Europe for testing with one of the top European racing teams at Spa -Francorchamps and Nurburgring Circuits in preparation for next season.
