Bangkok--2 Nov--Standard & Poor's The actual implementation of U.S. health care reform is still a few years away, and many provisions remain uncertain. But according to an article published today by Standard & Poor's Ratings Services, titled "As U.S. Health Care Sectors Face Reform, An Ounce Of Preparation Might Be The Best Medicine," even with lingering uncertainty about how to bring millions of new patients into the system starting in 2014, some key trends are emerging that show how the health care business is adjusting to the prospects. When President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and 2010 Reconciliation Act into law, Standard & Poor's believed that the new law would not create many immediate changes for the health care sector. This turned out to be the case, according to Michael Kaplan, a managing director in Standard & Poor's Corporate Ratings Group. "The more significant issues will come later," he said. He went on to explain that he believes the industry should remain stable in the coming months and even years until reform is fully implemented and enforced. But questions about the degree to which the new law could cut reimbursements remain.
